At the base of Pikes Peak, America's most famous mountain, lies the great little town of Manitou Springs. "Manitou" is a Native American word for "Spirit." Manitou Springs is on the National Register of Historic Districts.

Nine named mineral springs throughout town are fed by the snows of Pikes Peak. Long before white men traveled here, Indian natives considered this area sacred ground.

Manitou Springs is located 65 Miles south of Denver and 4 miles west of Colorado Springs. Aircraft connections can be made at Colorado Springs Airport or Denver International Airport

Although many visitors come to Manitou Springs to see Pikes Peak, they are surprised at the beauty of this town. Whether its hiking, exploring, shopping, touring the historical district, dining, drinking from the springs, or just having some fun, the options are endless in Manitou Springs. You will want to come back again and again!

Since 1891, The Manitou and Pikes Peak Railway has taken passengers to the 14,110 foot summit of Pikes Peak. The round trip lasts for 3 hours and 10 minutes. You must return on the same train that you went up on.
